Interesting how US and Brazil have become more peaceful in the last 6 years. Not sure what the reason is for Brazil, but I can guess the change in US might be due to winding down of operations in Iraq and Afganistan since 2006.It’s interesting that Russia is consistently considered as a less peaceful country even though it hasn’t experience any major political crisis until this year’s widespread protests. I’d guess it refers to the multiple disasters, accidents and general screw-ups that take place on a regular basis and cost the country hundreds of lives. Unfortunately, those are the results of structural problems like corruption, benevolence and poor enforcement of safety and other regulations.  (via Daily chart: Give peace a score | The Economist)
