Interesting how US and Brazil have become more peaceful in the last 6 years. Not sure what the reason is for Brazil, but I can guess the change in US might be due to winding down of operations in Iraq and Afganistan since 2006.
It’s interesting that Russia is consistently considered as a less peaceful country even though it hasn’t experience any major political crisis until this year’s widespread protests. I’d guess it refers to the multiple disasters, accidents and general screw-ups that take place on a regular basis and cost the country hundreds of lives. Unfortunately, those are the results of structural problems like corruption, benevolence and poor enforcement of safety and other regulations.
